The music and homage to the intro was the best part of this poor adaptation of a true classic tv series. There are just some people you just can't replace and Don Addams, Barbara Feldon and Ed Platt are some of them.
This is definitely a commentary on the man from uncle series and james bond
Just no no need for a remake just show the original classic show.

Love how Trevor Rabin composed the theme song of "Get Smart" and how Steve Carrell nailed that Maxwell Smart walk. 10/10. : )
he did'nt ...Irving Zsathmary composed it....Trevor Rubin dumbed it down......I play percussion in an orchestra and we've just started rehearsing this version, which I hate because it leaves out really significant bits ......

I really liked this movie, and this is a wonderful update of the series opening. Steve Carrel was a great Maxwell Smart. He started out as a novice, but steadily improved and became quite competent by the end.

This is the movie that Michael Scarn made himself into a real secret agent.
the slight camera movements when he goes through a door is spot on
Nice to see they have controls on the side, in case something goes wrong with those doors. I never saw anything in the original provided in case any of those doors failed and Max got stuck. And what happens if KAOS finds how to get in? Looks like they could just walk through those doors without any clearance.

For us Latinamericans this movie was even better, because despite he being almost 80 years old at the time, the same guy who dubbed the original 60's TV show dubbed Max in this movie.
Daaaang for real?? I always liked his voice in Spanish, and the jokes in general were a lot funnier when translated.

Chris Diamantopoulos should’ve played Maxwell smart because he played Moe in the 2012 three stooges remake movie and the real Moe in the Real original three stooges back in the old days sounds the real original Maxwell Smart played by Don Adams in the original Get Smart so Chris would’ve used his Moe voice for Maxwell Smart.
Carell looks a tad bit like Don Adams and takes roles for him to tap in to the zany antics that Don Adams was known for. Worthy casting in my opinion.

They did a really good job at mimicking the original intro.
and some funny jokes too!!! It also makes for a MUCH MORE Believable Reason why CONTROL would hire Maxwell Smart; As This seems to be an ORIGIN STORY for Maxwell Smart!

This movie was great and Anne Hathaway was a great choice. Shame it didn't make enough for a sequel (other then the poor spin off).

That's because this is kinda an origin story for this version of Maxwell Smart, as well as a remake. In this movie, Maxwell Smart was an analyst for CONTROL, and he did pass the test to become an agent; however, CONTROL saw his potential more as an analyst. That was the case until the field agents were compromised, that was when CONTROL promoted Max to become Agent 86.
Wooooow. Way to completely destroy the emotional and musical investment in this "homage." I've never gone from "I should actually watch this movie" to "Screw this entire thing" so swiftly. You don't just randomly cut in the middle of one of the most memorable themes in history for a stupid, not funny gag. YOU DEFINITELY DON'T DO IT TWICE IN SUCCESSION. Imagine the Imperial March in Empire Strikes Back stopped abruptly and nonsensically to show us Emperor Palpatine accidentally stumbling on his Sith robes while discussing the Death Star with Darth Vader.

compared to the original , this theme blows ....its a wonder Rubin did'nt do a hip hop version....I play in an orchestra and this version is currently on our set list....I hate the boom tish boom tish drumbeat and the fact it leaves out the stop start, call and response section entirely....a real 3rd rate effort
